Once an Ironman competitor completes 10 Australian Ironmans, they become an Ironman "Legend " and awarded a permanent Ironman Race Number for life which is in order of the number they reached at 10 races, IE: 10-050 is the 50th person to reach ten. They do not need to be consecutive and can be completed at anytime.
The first race was held in 1985, known as the Great Lakes International Triathlon. The 10th Forster Ironman was in 1995 and then in 1996 the "10 time legend" numbers were issued.
Dick Quinn was the first club member to reach this goal and was issued the number 10-003.
He went on to complete 15 IMA's before injuries stopped him from competing.
The Australian Ironman was held at Forster NSW until 2004 and then was relocated to Port Macquarie.
The race course has been deemed as one of the most challenging in the Ironman World Series and is reflected in the results and overall times. With its hilly and "dead" road surfaces.
If you are a Cronulla Tri Club Australian Ironman "ten time legend" and wish to be placed on this list email your details to stan1@ozemail.com.au
