Stuart Ford

Background

The Stu Ford Memorial Challenge is in honour of Stu Ford a much loved member who suddenly passed away on the 26th November 2021. He had planned to complete the Everesting challenge alone, by repeatedly cycling up Garie Beach Hill in the Royal National Park to the staggering heights of 8,848 metres, the height of Mount Everest. In Stu’s honour the club would like to continue his legacy and raise funds for well deserving charities. In 2025, participants will have the opportunity to partake in a 16km time trial or one of the Shire Run Carnivals’ Aquathlon, 10km run or Team Event or both. This event will be raising funds for the charities below, as Stu had intended. Simply click the links below to register for the ride, run/aquathlon or assist.

Event Information and Registration

The Cronulla Triathlon Club is proud to host the third annual Stu Ford Memorial Challenge (SFMC) and this year we are excited to announce we are partnering with local event “The Shire Run Carnival”. The Shire Run Carnival is hosted by CTC Life member Nathan Breen and our joint charity partner Love Mercy.

This special event honours the memory of Stu Ford whilst raising money for his two favourite charities: Love Mercy and The Black Dog Institute.

 Where the money goes:

25% of Shire Run Carnival entry fees (when you use code SFMC) will be donated.

The Black Dog Institute is dedicated to understanding, preventing and treating mental illness.

We are about creating a world where mental illness is treated with the same level of concern, immediacy and seriousness as physical illness; where scientists work to discover the causes of illness and new treatments, and where discoveries are immediately put into practice through health services, technology and community education.
